Play, Protect, Preserve.
Keep Our Park Board Strong and Independent.

I have worked hard to be a thoughtful and conscientious Park Board Commissioner who understands the long term vision of a great park system. I also serve as a Commissioner of the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and serve on the Minneapolis Tree Advisory Commission. Council member Hofstede and I are co-chairs of the newly formed Minneapolis Riverfront Corporation that brings together government officials, neighborhood folks and business leaders as river advocates – somewhat like the model of the St. Paul Riverfront Corporation.

I have been able to work with the National Park Service on some significant joint ventures and see great benefit in our working together.

I also serve on the NRP policy board and recognize the importance of strong neighborhoods and the value of informed and involved constituents.

I feel honored to be an elected official who gets to work on the importance of play and the need to protect, preserve and promote a healthy urban ecology.

I have passion, vision, humor, and integrity and knowledge of parks and park issues.

My grandchildren and I are frequent users of the parks and I get to see firsthand the importance of wading pools and playgrounds.

In addition to youth sports and youth employment, we have also been able to establish youth green teams focused on both youth involvement and ecological restoration and maintenance.

The park system is truly a team effort and I very much appreciate the fine park staff who do the real work of making this system work.

We are a better city when we are informed and involved. Please contact me with any questions (or answers).

I feel honored to be an elected Park Board Commissioner of a great Park system that has 126 years of history.
